The wall and the HESCO
The wall is a concrete block of a thousand health: it stops bullets and shields from blasts. The cheapest cover and the quickest: put it across a passage and you have a corner to shoot from.
The HESCO is earth-filled gabions in two rows, as tall as a man, of fifteen hundred health. It costs more and holds more: where a Grad, an air defence launcher or a money box is going to stand, that is what goes round it. A blast on the far side of cover does not reach through it - the rule holds for rockets, for mortar rounds and for drones alike.
Both are put down in a row: after the first the next is in your hands at once, R is enough. A building of yours can be picked up and moved when the front has moved on.
The watchtower
A steel watchtower: stairs, a railed platform six metres up and a cabin on it. One a player, twenty-five hundred health, and it takes longer to assemble than the other fortifications.
From it you see over the walls and roofs of the lower level, and it is a good place for a sniper rifle or a machine gun. But the frame stops no bullets - the only cover on it is the cabin, and that only up to the sill. It stands on a flat open place; with a canopy or the map’s invisible ceiling above, the game does not let it be placed and says why.
The watchtower is seen from anywhere on the map, and everything that flies comes for it first. An air defence launcher and a net beside it are not a luxury.
Hedgehogs, the net and the mine
A hedgehog is beams welded crosswise. Neither the tank nor players get through, and bullets fly between the beams - so you can shoot from behind it, and be shot at. Three a player: just enough to close a road. Blasts break it.
The net is stretched on posts over what needs cover from above and catches enemy drones that go over it; your own drones and rockets pass. It is brought down by its posts.
The mine waits on the ground: an enemy steps on it - a blast. One hit breaks it, so it goes where nobody looks: round a corner, under the stairs, in the passage behind the hedgehogs.
Together that is the outpost: hedgehogs on the road, HESCOs round the vehicles, the watchtower over it all, the net and the air defence against what comes from above.
Advice
- Cover first, weapons second: a turret behind a HESCO lives many times longer than one in the open.
- Put hedgehogs where the tank picks up speed: a road, an arch, the way out of a base. They stop people too, and bullets fly between the beams.
- The watchtower needs a flat place under the open sky and headroom above it - it does not stand under a canopy or under the map's invisible ceiling.
